Friday Quickie - A couple of dupes

I finally got around to picking up Wet N Wild's lipstick in Bare it All. Word has it this is a pretty good dupe for MAC's Velvet Teddy; that was never one that I had in my collection, but here is a swatch of it for those of you looking for a dupe.

Secondly is a dupe for Jeffree Star's Masochist Liquid Lipstick. This is Milani's Amore Matte Lip Creme in Gorgeous. I picked this up not realising it would be so close to Masochist. So for those of you that don't want to support JS or want a cheaper option (£7.99 for the Milani, £14 for JS), these are a pretty dang good match....

I have one on the top lip, the other on the bottom; can you tell the difference?

In the hand swatch the difference is more noticeable but on the lips, once they dried down there's really not much between them at all!

The top lip is Milani and the bottom is JS by the way!

Formula wise, the Milani one smells nicer and is a bit thinner, I also prefer the applicator. I'm not a fan of the Jeffree star wands, but I know a lot of people love the curved shape.

Milani wand (flat like the Urban Decay Naked Concealer wand)

Jeffree Star wand (sorry it's blurry, it's a curved wand)

Lip close up, again Milani on the top lip, JS on the bottom.

As for staining, with a bright pink like this there is GOING to be staining. As you can see, JS stained more than Milani.

The only thing I can't compare is wear time, as I was going out so had to wipe them both off right after taking the pics. Next time I work from home I'll try and remember to reapply and test the wear of both lipsticks.

Have an awesome weekend everyone.

Dupes for the Beauty Blender

The beauty blender is one of my absolute, all time favourite tools. I have several in my personal kit and my pro kit. However, although they're vegan, they're not cheap!

There's quite a few dupes kicking around now, so I thought I'd talk about a couple that I've tried. The B. Blending Sponge and the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

Here they are dry and in their packaging.

And out of their packaging - still dry

And here they are, wet. I'm not sure if these comparison pics really show how much they expand, but they do. Especially the beauty blender. This expands the most out of the 3.

On the left is the B. sponge and the origingal BB is on the right. Shape wise they are VERY similar and colour wise too - the BB is a little brighter pink.

And here is the Real Techniques sponge, which has the pointed top, but has a flat edge instead of a rounded bottom.

My thoughts:

The B. sponge and the Real Techniques ones are fantastic sponges and they are way cheaper than a beauty blender which is £16 (the B. sponge is £4.99 and the RT sponge is £5.99 - although both are reduced on Superdrug right now!).

The B. and the RT sponges are a very similar to each other in texture but different to the original Beauty Blender. The RT and B. sponges are denser, firmer sponges. The Beauty Blender is softer and springier and expands way more.

My overall favourite is the Beauty Blender. I love the texture of it and I love the overall effect it gives me on my makeup. However, the other 2 sponges are also fantastic and I rotate all 3. I also prefer the shape of the BB/B. sponge, as I like the rounded bottom for finishing my foundation, rather than the flat edge.

Have you tried the Beauty Blender or any dupes? I'd love to know what you think.

Have an awesome weekend. I'm off to an 80s weekend with my girlies, so expect some brightly coloured makeup next week! :)
