Hello hello you called baby I can't hear a thing.....

So I cleared all the pics off my android phone and found a bunch of food pics!  Lady Gaga title making a bit more sense now? No... OK I'll move on.

A while back, myself and my awesome vegan friends went to Moshi Moshi in Brighton. Although the highlight of this day was really giant Jenga and Gin in a Tin, I am just going to show you the food, because it was excellent.

Moshi Moshi is a sushi place that has lots of vegan options, including dessert (which I was too full for to be honest.

I’m going to start as I mean to go on, with a blurry picture of a half-eaten piece of food. I know you guys love seeing these, so here it is. This is something that has a fancy name that I can’t remember, but it’s tofu skin filled with rice and veggies. Everytime we saw one go round the conveyor we nabbed them, no one else got a look in! hahaha

For the rest of my meal I ordered deep fried dumplings. These were so good, that we all got another round of them.

I also had something with mock duck in it and hoisin type sauce, I think. It was excellent and I had it with a side of brown rice, to be healthy ya know.

As I said, I was too full for pudding and besides, those glutinous rice ball things look like dead baby hamsters anyway. ERGH.

I also found this pic of pizza on my phone. I remember that instead of tomato sauce, I used a base of Sacla’s Aubergine pesto (good shit and no dairy!) then I added facon, peppers, mushrooms and sweetcorn. Then a buttload of cheezly. My dad was happy to inform me that it was good pizza, after he stole some of the leftovers.

This past Saturday, I met up with some other PPKers and we went on a lovely day trip to London.  Some of us met at Ms Cupcake in Bristol and I got a PB&J Cookie sandwich and coconut almond cupcake to go.  Then we went onto InSpiral, 4 of us ordered lasagne but only one of us go it!  The rest of us got this veggie bake thing.  Not lasagne but still pretty tasty.  You get to pick 3 sides, so I went for the bean salad, wedges and Greek style salad and also some garlic mayo – which is what that bright yellow stuff is.  Didn’t taste anything like garlic mayo to me but it was yummy.  I've been dying to go to InSpiral for ages and I wasn't disappointed.  I also had some Maple & Pecan icecream, their ice creams are all raw and very tasty.  I didn't get a pic though.

And just because she's so flippin cute.... a bonus pic of Jazzy!

Happy humpday all!

Malta Foodz

Hi all, I'm back. Ok you got me I been back since Sunday, but better late than never eh? Malta was awesome, we had beauty treatments, walked by the sea, took an open top bus tour and ate lots of foodz.

Starting with the plane journey there. I was pleasantly surprised with the vegan meal - as gross as it looked, it was actually not so bad! It was veggies in a tomato sauce with rice, fruit salad and a roll. The fruit salad was really good, sometimes they're dry but it wasn't at all.

The first night we'd planned to go to the restaurant in the hotel but it was shut for a private function. So we walked (in the rain!) till we found a restaurant. We settled for an italian place, because almost every restaurant in Malta is Italian! They had a vegan option though anyway, a veggie pizza, so that's what I had.

The second night we made it to the restaurant in the hotel but I forgot my camera. Don't worry though, we went back, it was that good! So there are some pics in a bit.

Night 3 and we went to a tex mex place and were disappointed. We both had the veggie burrito and it was kinda bland and a bit sickly. The rice was good though and my mojito was awesome.

On the friday we had our beauty treatments and cuz the weather sucked, we ordered a film and went to the local supermarket to buy stuff for a bed picnic. The local supermarket was pretty good, I managed to get soymilk, soy yoghurts, alpro chocolate desserts and vegan butter!

One of the things we got for our picnic was this Bigilla. It's a bean pate made with Tic Beans - something I've never heard of before. It was really tasty, I have no idea what herbs & spices were in it though.

The spread - wholewheat crostinis, local hummus, Bigilla, Kinnie (the Maltese local drink, which I grew to love), sherbet fountain and Crix which are pb flavoured crisps! Basically they're peanut butter & cornmeal, fried. Good stuff but sickly so I could only eat a few.

And lastly, the meal on our last night at the hotel restaurant. It's an awesome restaurant and if you ever go to malta, I would recommend paying a visit to the Palace Hotel in Sliema and going to the TemptAsian. It has all different Asian cuisines on the menu and I just ordered a bunch of vegan stuff for me & mum. We got:

Miso Soup

Yaki Soba Noodles

Vietnemese style sushi (rice paper rolls with veggies and tofu)

Tempura veggies (SO good)

f
And schzezuan aubergin - this stuff was seriously so yummy! We had it both times we went there.

I didn't get a pic of the plane meal on the way home, it was pretty boring pasta in tomato sauce!

Anyway, I think my muffins are about down so I'm off now - pix next time.

You gotta roll with it....

I feel like I should put on Oasis, but with PMT rearing it's ugly head, it could just make me mad!

Tonight, I made sushi. I should start by saying that I have NEVER made sushi before but I keep seeing all these pretty pictures plastered all over t'internet so I decided to give it a go.

Be kind.... my rolling sucks, but hey - it was my first time! I had some VCON sweetcorn/edamame salad and some cold peanutty noodles to go with and it was awesome!

I was planning on putting in strips of tofu with miso marinade on it but I didn't have any tofu in my freezer (which is a first). Denied. It was ace nonetheless.

Today's lunch was the easiest and quickest pea soup ever. I've had 3 attempts at this now and today I got it right.

All you do is bring 1/2 cup (125ml) of water to the boil. Crumble in a half a stock cube, add a cup of peas (100g) and cook until the peas are tender (about 5 mins). Pour into a blender with 1/4 cup (4 tbsp) soya yoghurt and blend, then season to taste. No frills - just tasty and super quick.

Last night I made bread, but I really was feeling way too lazy to knead so I made soda bread, which is SOOOO much quicker. I used the recipe on the side of the flour packet and it was a mixture of white and rye flour. It was good but I think the measurements need tweaking, as I found myself adding flour for a while until the dough was right! So I'm going to play with it and then post it.

It was awesome with jam (and my soup today).

Monday's dinner was a quick curry, and I mean quick. I didn't even start chopping the veg until I'd put the rice on to cook for 25 minutes and I still had time to show the guy who's fixing my shower round the flat as well!!

It went like this.. chop onion and butternut squash. Let contractor in to whinge about shitty shower screen. Saute an onion in a few sprays of low fat cooking spray and a pinch of salt over a low-med heat, add 1/2 cup (about 80g) of butternut squash, some green beans and 1.5 tsp of curry powder (any you like - I make my own) and stir and cook for a few minutes. Add some water (about 1/2 cup) and half a tin of tomatoes. Then cover it with foil (or a lid if your pan is lucky enough to have one) and leave it for about 15 minutes until the BN squash is cooked. Then mix in 1/2 cup (80g ish) cooked chickpeas and 1/4 cup (4 tbsp) soya yoghurt, season and sprinkle with fresh coriander if you like it and serve over brown rice. YUM.
I have an okara experiment in the oven as we speak - hopefully more on this next time!

Oh and unrelated but I'm watching the Strictly Come Dancing results from Sunday that I V+'d and fuck me - how awesome was that cha cha that the world champs did!!!

Oh and for the love of all that is good Britain - stop fucking voting for John - he SUCKKKKKKS! He is beyond terrible, it's a joke. Heather and Brian got kicked off which makes me sad cuz I find Brian Fortuna strangely hot!
