New York New York - The Makeup!

So I just got back from the best trip EVER to New York and I'm still buzzing about it. I will be posting all the food and trip details at the weekend - there's a lot! So today I thought I would post some pics of all the awesome makeup I bought in Sephora.

Sephora is awesome and I wish we had them in the UK. Because basically when I walk around Sephora, THIS TUNE is playing in my head! One of my happy places, haha.

I went to 2 Sephoras while I was there; one opposite Macy's and one in Time Square. I was a little disappointed at the first one's selection. Although I still managed to spend 2/3 of my makeup budget there!

First thing I picked up was Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector - Pressed, in Moonstone. I know everyone raves about Opal and it's beautiful, but for me and my pale skin, Moonstone was a better fit.

It's VERY similar to The Balm's Mary-Lou Manizer, which I love. I will try to remember to do a side by side swatch of the two at some point to show you a comparison.

Then I hit Too Faced. My plan was to pick up the Born This Way Foundation and one of the Chocolate Soleil Bronzers. However, I couldn't find a match for the foundation, they all seemed too yellow and too dark for me. I didn't bother with the bronzer either, not sure why!

I did however pick up two of the Melted lipsticks, in Sugar and Berry. I also picked up the Better Than Sex Mascara, as everyone raves about it so I had to see for myself!

I was pretty excited to see the Josie Maran stuff. I couldn't remember exactly what was vegan but I knew the cheek Gelees were, so I got one of them in Poppy Paradise.

In the Times Square Sephora, I was looking for Anastasia Beverley Hills, as they didn't have what I wanted in the first one (the Brow Wiz). And although they did have them, they didn't have my colour (Ash Blonde). So the very lovely lady there suggested I look at something else, which is 'way better anyway'. Was worried what she was going to suggest but she suggested Hourglass. YAY I know they're cruelty free and have vegan options. She actually ended up redoing my foundation and face makeup for me with a load of Hourglass stuff and I really liked it all (that Ambient Lighting palette is now on my wishlist!)

I got the Veil Primer (just a sample size as it's very expensive and I wanted to try out it before getting the full size).

I splashed out on the Veil Foundation too, as the finish was really lovely.

I also got the Arch brow pencil that the lovely lady who did my makeup recommended. My shade is warm blonde. I've only tried it a couple of times, but I like so far.

Onto Kat Von D. Now I was a little unsure of buying anything from this brand as there are some parent company issues (read more about it here) but I think I am ok with it. So I had a look. The displays were super picked over and most of the liquid lipstick colours I was interested in were gone.

I did get a few bits though. I got the Lightning Liner in Ludwig, The Liquid Lipstick in Berlin and the Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Doce.

The tip of this eyeliner is super fine! Looking forward to trying this out.

Onto drugstore makeup and I literally bought 1 thing from Milani, their Illuminating Face Powder in Amber Nectar. It was the only drugstore item I really liked the look of.

Look how pretty!

I also got this from the drugstore, although I didn't think The Balm were a drugstore brand! I got the Overshadow in No Money No Honey. I can't find this listed on any of the vegan lists I have googled since buying it. However, there's nothing listed in the ingredients that looks animal based to me, so I've shot them an email to check. UPDATE: The Balm checked with their lab and confirmed that all the overshadows are vegan! YAY.

But look.... ERMAHGERD so shiny and pretty! Totally in love with this and can't wait to wear it.

Oh yeah, I also grabbed a new beauty blender as I use mine every single day and it's starting to look very stained and a bit grim!

Hopefully some of these things will make it into my next favourites post! Also stay tuned for my food / trip details post at the weekend.

Sal xXx
