Vegan MoFo Day 11 - John Cleese

Allo Dinner Plate!

So my good buddy Jojo gave me these Violife cheese slices when I saw her the other week.  She got sent a whole bunch of them to review but as she's a chilli wuss, wasn't up for trying the hot pepper ones.  So they made their way to my sweaty german bands!

They do have a bit of chilli but they're not that powerful.  Although according to my workmates I'm not to be trusted because I tell them I can't detect chilli and then they go off like I've just made them eat a jalapeño!

I decided for lunch to make a recreation of one of my favourite pregan sandwiches, a ploughmans.  There's been this thread on the PPK recently about ploughmans and all these kerazy vegans wanted to add stuff like avocado and fancy pickle! The horror!  So I wasn't sure if spicy cheese would be ok, but once it had a tonne of mayo and branston on, you couldn't even really taste the chilli.

I also had some salt/sweet proper corn and a Fentimanns cherry tree cola.

Dinner, I decided to go for a roast dinner.  I am cooking for my bestie tomorrow and I need seitan for that, so I messed with the chicken style roast from Julie Hasson's Vegan Diner (which is truly awesome).  All I changed was the poultry seasoning to lamb seasoning and added in a crumbled veggie oxo and 2 teaspoons of marmite to darken it up.

It was wicked, with some paxo stuff, maple roasted carrots & parsnips, mashed taters, peas and lots of bisto gravy.

Cockney translations of the day
John Cleese = Cheese*
Dinner Plate = Mate
German Bands = Hands

*There was also another one I could've used for cheese; 'bended knees', it was a tough choice!

  4. Mayo on a ploughmans? Sacrilege!

    hehe.

That Fentimans cherry cola is divine. It reminds me of Camden Lock in the 90s, because it's got a very slight whiff of incense to it (in a good way).
