So my good buddy Jojo gave me these Violife cheese slices when I saw her the other week. She got sent a whole bunch of them to review but as she's a chilli wuss, wasn't up for trying the hot pepper ones. So they made their way to my sweaty german bands!
They do have a bit of chilli but they're not that powerful. Although according to my workmates I'm not to be trusted because I tell them I can't detect chilli and then they go off like I've just made them eat a jalapeño!
I decided for lunch to make a recreation of one of my favourite pregan sandwiches, a ploughmans. There's been this thread on the PPK recently about ploughmans and all these kerazy vegans wanted to add stuff like avocado and fancy pickle! The horror! So I wasn't sure if spicy cheese would be ok, but once it had a tonne of mayo and branston on, you couldn't even really taste the chilli.
I also had some salt/sweet proper corn and a Fentimanns cherry tree cola.
It was wicked, with some paxo stuff, maple roasted carrots & parsnips, mashed taters, peas and lots of bisto gravy.

Cockney translations of the day
John Cleese = Cheese*
Dinner Plate = Mate
German Bands = Hands
*There was also another one I could've used for cheese; 'bended knees', it was a tough choice!

ReplyDeleteI've never heard of that sandwich.
Mayo on a ploughmans? Sacrilege!
ReplyDeletehehe.
That Fentimans cherry cola is divine. It reminds me of Camden Lock in the 90s, because it's got a very slight whiff of incense to it (in a good way).
I've been on a ploughman's buttie roll recently but with vegusto, love them. Great looking roast dinner too, that chicken style roast is one of my faves. Loving the ryhming slang theme too!
